Barclays has come to the aid of Castlereagh Colts by
donating a complete set of coaching kit and equipment to its football
team. The award to Castlereagh Colts has been made as part of the £30m
grassroots sports programme, Barclays Spaces for Sports.
The donation is
one of 1,200 packs being awarded each year to ensure teams across the UK
will benefit from the three year scheme.
Castlereagh Colts has been running since 2001, we are a club which
operates an open door policy to all, particularly targeting and
supporting young men from across the political and ethnic divides which
improves and increases sporting communication skills and most of all
peace. It improves the quality of life for our members who face
challenges at various times coming from mixed backgrounds and areas of
deprivation.
Club Secretary Gary Hassan, said, "A lack of funds
has meant that new equipment was hard to come by, and our club numbers
are always increasing, but we never have enough decent equipment to
improve our training sessions. This coaching pack has helped enormously
when delivering our training sessions and the coaches and members look
more professional. The coaching pack is a great way of helping clubs
like us continue our own success."
Michelle Smith, Head of Community Sports Sponsorship,
said "Barclays are delighted to be supporting the Castlereagh Colts
and hope this coaching kit will encourage their interest in sport and
lead them to greater success!"
